I am a huge daydreamer...
Seriously. I could spend hours exploring Pinterest, looking at travel, home decor, crafting, food, and clothes. I love to curate my boards and envision all sorts of ideas. It's my favorite little aspirational mood boost, and I just love to work my imagination!
So today I thought it would be fun to share one of those dreams with you. :) This idea came to mind a few months ago, while talking with my mom about what she wanted to do with some old family photos. I absolutely LOVE looking through old photos, but over the years and after a move, they tend to get jumbled up and disorganized. If you have a lot of photos like we do, it can be a pain to figure out where to store them.
I thought about how nice it would be to know how to properly store, preserve, and archive photos, but also in a way that they can be enjoyed whenever you want. And so the idea of a "memory room" was born!
I would love to have a room dedicated solely to photos and home videos. I would have shelves of beautiful boxes, filled with catalogued and organized photos that can be pulled out and admired. Some would be framed and on display. There would be a TV/monitor amidst it all, where all photos and videos would be backed up and organized digitally as well, so you could pull up anything you'd like to view. Of course there'd be a nice sitting area for this as well. Ultimately, I want a cozy, happy place to reminisce from time to time, and maybe to share stories with future generations! :)
But that's not all! (*Price Is Right voice*) I've got more dreams for this memory room. It would split into two additional rooms - a darkroom for developing film, and my office where I can scan & print as well. I picture being able to share the art of photography and making memories with a little one one day, and I love that I would also walk through a room of beautiful memories to get to my office.
This is certainly more of a long-term dream, as the only thing I actually know how to do so far is capture the photos in the first place LOL. I'm also saving this idea for a forever home, just given how involved it will be. But how wonderful to have so many things to look forward to learning and exploring!
I'm excited to learn as much as I can about taking care of printed photos, and even best conditions for the room. I've never developed photos myself, so I'm excited to explore that (I'm particularly interested in E-6 slides!) I also haven't tried my hand in film photos just yet, other than disposable cameras when I was a kid, and my Instax camera in recent years.
Needless to say, this will be quite the adventure, but I hope to take you along with me as I learn and grow and bring this dream to life over the years! Thanks for letting me speak this one into existence today. :)
